  • We had a very nice experience and were treated really well. There was a small issue with my boyfriend’s meal, as the option he wanted wasn’t available and the dish he chose wasn’t quite to his taste. He didn’t want to say anything, but the waitress noticed and very kindly offered an alternative, which they prepared without charging extra and he loved it. My food was very nice as well and we even had dessert. The service was friendly and attentive, especially that waitress that I wish I remembered her name as she was exceptional. It was our first time visiting, we were in York celebrating my partner’s birthday, and we wanted a quiet, nice place for dinner. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The quality-price ratio was very reasonable, and we would happily come back.

  • We visited York for a day trip as a family and, just like in other cities we’ve been to, we decided to go with Côte — and once again, it did not disappoint. If you ask me, the starters might be the weakest part of the meal — and I say that only because the mains and especially the desserts are so good that they outshine the rest. Still, everything we had was enjoyable. We had noted during our reservation that one of us has coeliac disease, and without even having to mention it when we sat down, they brought over a gluten-free menu. Huge thanks to the team for being so considerate and attentive. For starters, we went with the Camembert Brûlée and Calamari. As mains, we had the Confit Duck à l’Orange and Poulet Breton (corn-fed roasted half chicken) — both of which you can see in the photos. The gratin dauphinois served with the duck takes the whole dish to another level, and the duck itself was cooked to absolute perfection. On the side, I opted for the Green Salad, which might sound simple, but it’s incredibly tasty — the mustard vinaigrette deserves its own shoutout. Highly recommend trying it. For dessert, we chose the Lemongrass & Lime Leaf Crème Brûlée, Crème Caramel Classique, and Chocolate Mousse. Everything except the Crème Brûlée was an instant hit with us. While it was beautifully made in theory, the flavor combination just wasn’t to our taste. Côte once again nailed it. Fingers crossed the Manchester branch reopens soon so we don’t have to travel cities just to enjoy these amazing dishes!

  • We called in without a reservation at a busy time, we were seated in a bit of a 'corridor' so it was a slightly strange atmosphere. Given that it was one of a very few tables for two, we might have finished up there anyway. Food was good & enjoyable. Staff were very attentive and helpful. We eat often at 'Côte' restaurants and usually find the fixed menu is very good value, this wasn't on offer on the day we dined so we found it a little on the expensive side overall, but it is York after all. We enjoyed the meal and occasion and would return.

  • We attended for a special occasion as it was my partners birthday, it was refreshing to see they acknowledged that straight away and asked appropriate questions about the day!. The atmosphere was calm and intimate which is what we was wanting, we have visited later on in the evening and it can be more lively but still a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, beautiful menu choices and all mouthwatering dishes! We wished we could have ordered more! The portion sizes were just right and each bite was bursting with flavour. The staff were kind, friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful experience.

  • We were staying in York for my wife’s birthday and ate at Cote on her birthday, which is a bit of a tradition for us if we are in a town with a Cote Brasserie. The food and service were both excellent as we have come to expect. I wish I could recall the name of our waitress to give her a special mention, as she was lovely. Would recommend.
